Travel with Big Red

A glorious week spent drawing Tres Cime from several viewpoints, my favourite this trip being from Popena. On our final day we took part in ‘holding hands around Tres Cime for Africa’ with 6000 other people, a drop the debt event coinciding with the G8 summit not far away in the earthquake hit town of L’Aquila - a very emotional experience with folks of all ages having an excellent day out on the mountain.

We left Misurina to head back over to Val di Fiemme and found a lovely campsite near Predazzo. From here we spent a few days exploring potential drawing sites and taking in via ferratas on the way - first in the Latemar and then from Passo di Lusia with stunning views of the Rosengarten and back over to the Latemar.

Finally we spent another few days back in Misurina, picking up some local wine and making one more trip to Tofana where I made drawings of Pelmo and Antelau. After visiting the vet in Cortina, we set off for Boulogne and the ferry, spending a very pleasant afternoon in Coblenz on the way.
